Welcome and join me to create a life you don’t need a vacation from! This is the place to get inspiration for developing a daily practice of creativity. It can start with something small, like recognizing the ways you are already creative. Then you might choose to build upon that, by experimenting and learning to see what feels right. The idea is to let curiosity be your guide. Follow your own pace and see what you feel compelled to try. There are no rules here. Daily Creatives is not a destination as much as it is a tour guide.

Like most people, my creative journey began in childhood. Then I grew up, got educated and put away all those creative ideas. I thought that being a proper adult in the world of business meant that I had to become narrowly focused. I spent a couple of decades doing that and ended up feeling pretty burned out. I was in the trap of playing a finite game where I felt there was one winner and everyone else was second best. The world seemed to be ordered by financial metrics and that was the measure of real value.
I had lost sight of the humanity of life. We are organic beings who are compelled to act for a variety of reasons, not just for the pursuit of more money. We care about each other, the environment we live in and all the living organisms in it. Of course we strive for excellence and improvement, but not to make life worse for many in order to benefit a few. At least that is the way I see things now.
What does that have to do with creativity?
I believe that the future we all seek is possible, but it is going to take creativity to get there. We cannot settle for the status quo when that system is becoming antiquated. We must set our sights on creating something new, for the world at large and for ourselves. Each of us has the exclusive power to control how we feel, think and behave towards those around us. Are we going to stay on the hamster wheel that was created for us? Or are we going to reinvent our days to be meaningful, joyful and creative?

At some point on my journey, it became clear that my ladder was on the wrong wall. But, all was not lost. I had gained loads of experience and I was excited by the idea of creating the future I wanted, the hard won wisdom I had accumulated. The hard bit was done and I could apply myself to a new way of being. After a fair amount of experimentation I realized that the path forward was paved with creativity.
So…join me in this pursuit.
Living a creative life is more fun and rewarding than anything I’ve tried before. From the outside, some may ask how my life is much different than before. My days seem normal, compared to other people. I go to work, I am a mother and a wife. I take vacations and enjoy them immensely. The difference is the way I approach things. Everything.
